Lamb Shoulder Stew

One of the ways that you can make the GAPS Diet more manageable is to get as much of the kitchen work done in the morning while cooking breakfast.  This is one the great tasty recipes that you can use to do that. You can set this meal up in the morning, set the slow cooker on low all day and then at dinner time it will be ready.

Lamb Stew


1 Lamb Shoulder (or leg)

Filtered water or broth (enough to fill a crock pot)

Fresh cracked pepper

Salt to taste

2-3 bay leaves

1/2 tsp. each of assorted fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, basil, marjoram, or what you have on hand, leave out for stage 1.

4 cups of Vegetables of choice (carrots, zucchini, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, garlic,  pumpkin, mushrooms etc)


Place the lamb shoulder, and all the other ingredients into a slow cooker crock pot, and cover with broth or water.

Turn slow cooker on a low heat for 6 hours.

Serve. If dairy is tolerated you can add homemade sour cream and or ghee to make the dish creamy.  At stage 3 coconut cream or milk can be added.
