Meat balls and veggie gravy

meat balls with veggie gravy

If you have looked at one of my GAPS meal plans you will notice that for breakfast meatballs are high up on my list. One because they are easy to make, and two my family love them and I don’t have to fight anyone to get them to eat. You can change the flavour by changing the herbs and spices use and also the vegetables that you put into the gravy, so have some fun and play around with different flavours, you’re sure to find something that your family will love.

  • 1kg of mince – a mix of pork and beef gives a great result
  • 2 Onions finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic- crushed
  • 4 Carrots – chopped
  • 500 ml – 1 litre of broth
  • Salt, pepper, and herbs (when allowed stage 2)
  • (Variations: mushrooms, tomatoes, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower)

  1. 1/2 fill a deep frying pan with broth.
  2. Put the chopped veggies in a pan with broth.
  3. Mix the mince with pepper, salt and herbs, mixing well and forming patties.  The more the work the meat the better it stays together.
  4. Put the patties into the broth and cook thoroughly, turning a few times until cooked completely.
  5. Once meatballs are cooked, remove from the pan, and pour broth and the remaining vegetables into a large jug and blend with a stick blender, or alternatively into a thermomix for blending until smooth.
